Cindy York
Attorney Cindy York received both her undergraduate degree (B.S. 1984) and her law degree (J.D. 1988) from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She was admitted to the North Carolina State Bar in 1988.
After law school, Cindy joined the firm of Ervin, Kornfeld, MacNeill & Wilson in Charlotte, North Carolina. There Ms. York practiced primarily business, commercial, and construction litigation and initiated the firm’s personal injury/negligence practice. From Charlotte, Cindy moved to Zebulon, North Carolina to form a general practice partnership, followed later by a solo practice. While in Zebulon, Ms. York’s practice included personal injury; premises liability; negligence; litigation and counseling for business clients; contracts and business transactions; employment law; residential and commercial real estate matters and transactions; as well as other general practice areas. Her clients included businesses, banking institutions, and individuals.
In 2004, Attorney Cindy York opened her solo practice in Wilmington, North Carolina, located just before the bridge where Wilmington meets Wrightsville Beach. Ms. York’s practice in Wilmington has included residential and commercial real estate, including complex, multimillion dollar transactions; representation of business clients in matters from business formation to document drafting; contract negotiation; dispute resolution; litigation settlement and dissolution; as well as additional areas as outlined on the “Practice Areas” page of this website.
Earlier experiences include working for the Raleigh office of Womble, Carlyle, Sandridge & Rice during the year between college and law school, as well as summer clerkships in the areas of civil litigation, music and entertainment law, and personal injury/negligence.
Cindy is a member of the North Carolina State Bar, the North Carolina Bar Association, and the North Carolina 5th Judicial District Bar. She is admitted to practice in State Court in North Carolina and in United States District Court in the Eastern District of North Carolina.
Cindy was born in Seoul, South Korea, while her father, a United States Navy and Army Veteran from North Carolina, was stationed overseas. She grew up in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, and now lives in Wilmington with her two children, Eli and Wyatt (and their dog Lily). They are members of St. Andrew’s On-the-Sound Episcopal Church, where Cindy has enjoyed teaching Sunday school in the past.
